On Saturday at approximately 1:41PM, The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office located an accident on the Nishnabotna River bridge on Highway 48 west of Elliott. The driver, Sherri K. Turner, 55, of Elliott, had been traveling west on Highway 48 when her vehicle lost traction due to snow and slush covered road surface conditions. The vehicle slid southwest across the eastbound lane of traffic and Turner avoided contact with the southeast bridge guardrail. She attempted to correct, and this caused the 2015 Chrysler 200 owned and operated by her to cross the northwest, striking the concrete wall on the north side of the bridge. This resulted in damage to the right front wheel and entire right side of the vehicle. The damage rendered the vehicle inoperable, and it was located in the middle of the bridge deck surface. The vehicle sustained approximately $10,000 in damage and there were no injuries reported. Turner was transported by private party from the scene. The investigation is complete and there were no citations issued.
