(Atlantic) Atlantic Chamber Executive Director Bailey Smith appearing in front of the Atlantic City Council, talked about the Chambers’ accomplishments over the past year. Smith says there are 240 members spanning 12 communities, including 11 new members.
Smith says the Chamber organized 25 events throughout the year, including 11 new business ribbon-cutting events.
One of the larger projects organized by the Chamber also re-launched the business investor fund. Smith says this is a guaranteed note you sign for $1,000 for people with a solid business plan but don’t have enough collateral to get the business.
Smith says those interested in this program can stop by the chamber office for the paperwork.
The other chamber success stories include selling $40,000 of Atlantic cash, all spent in Atlantic, two upper-story housing units in downtown Mainstreet buildings. Smith says Atlantic was again Travel Iowa’s number #1 Christmas destination, and Atlantic was also named a “National Neighborhood Champion given to communities around the country with local solid shopping initiatives.
Some of the projects the Chamber is working on this year; include partnering with Park and Recreation for the fundraising portion for the Splash Pad Project, partnering on housing, working with an Industry expert to discuss a specific family entertainment aspect for Atlantic, and searching information on how much area is needed to implement the project.
