(Atlantic) The Atlantic Community School District has hired new staff to support English language learners.
Superintendent Steve Barber says last fall, there were 27 English language learner students in the district. Currently, that number has increased to nearly 70 students. To better support these students, the district has hired an English Language Learner Teacher, Aya Hamanaka.
The district has also hired a Chuukese Language Translator.
Barber also noted Savannah Bell was hired as a Title 1 Teacher at Schuler Elementary.
