(Des Moines) Former Guthrie County Attorney Brenna Bird was sworn in as Iowa Attorney General Thursday at the Iowa State Capitol. Bird was elected on November 8, 2022 – the first Republican to hold the office since 1979-took the office on Tuesday.
Brenna Bird (formerly Brenna Findley) was born in Guthrie Center and is currently from Dexter. She has been the Guthrie County Attorney since 2018.
Her experience includes serving as staff and counsel for Congressman Steve King and Counsel to Governor Terry Branstad. She was the Republican Party’s nominee for Attorney General of Iowa in 2010. She has taught at the University of Iowa Law School. Bird received her undergraduate degree at Drake University and her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
