(Elk Horn) Beginning in January the Exira-EHK School Board will shift their meeting times from the third Monday to the third Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in Elk Horn.
Superintendent Trevor Miller says this is a result of a conflict with the IKM-Manning board meetings. Kevin Petersen and Tamie Fahn will remain President and Vice-President of the board. “They were the only two nominated and they agreed to do it.” Miller says, “They understand how things work and they keep the meetings goin.”
Curing last week’s meeting the board approved the purchase of a new school bus. “We went with International-Hoglund. They came with the lowest bid. This is our last Volkswagon grant, so we get $30,000 off of the bus. A new bus cost $123,000 with no guarantee date when we are going to see it due to back ups and parts. Hopefully sometime in 2023 we’ll see the bus. We got that bus purchased and had to make sure we had the purchase order done before December 31st to be able to use the grant.”
In other news, the board approved the resignations of Tom Petersen (Head Football Coach) and Dara Svendsen (Human Resources/Administrative Assistant). New hires include Paige Gaskill (Assistant Girls Basketball) and Jennie Irlbeck (Shared District Administrative Assistant/HR).
