(Atlantic) Atlantic senior middle distance runner Ava Rush committed to run for Iowa following a campus visit on Friday. The two-time state qualifier, and top ten finisher in the Class 3A State Cross Country Meet last month, told KSOM/KS95 Sports she is going to focus on track at Iowa.
Ava decided after visiting with the coaching staff and team members at Iowa City on Friday.
Rush is a two-time State Cross Country qualifier and finished ninth in the elite field at the State Meet this past season. She is also a two-time state track qualifier in seven events. In her sophomore year, she competed in the 800, 4×400, and 4×800. This past season as a junior, Rush qualified in four events. The Distance Medley Relay, 1500, 4×800, and 4×400. The 4×400 Meter Relay finished fourth in Class 3A, and all four runners return this season.
