(Guthrie Center) ACGC picked up their 4th straight win with a 51-0 count against Nodaway Valley/O-M in Guthrie Center on Friday night.
The Chargers got 200 rushing yards from Brock Littler. The senior quarterback averaged over 15 yards per carry with scoring runs from 33, 49, 35, and two yards. Sophomore fullback Ben Franzeen added 95 yards on 18 carries. Franzeen, playing in place of injured Seth Reno, posted a one yard TD run in his first career offensive start.
Ben Marsh added a 34 yard TD catch and Payton Jacobe blocked a punt for a safety to highlight ACGC’s Week 5 win. Joe Crawford added a four yard rushing TD in the final minute. They improve to 4-1 heading into a big matchup with I-35 next week.
The Chargers held the Wolverines to negative rushing yardage. “We played a little more aggressive this week.” Coach Cody Matthewson says, “Having Blake Newby back obviously was a big help. He goes out there on the first play of the game and has a tackle for loss so we have a little more depth there. Our big thing this week, as you could see, was we showed a lot of pressure and brought blitzes with a lot of guys.”
Boston DeVault completed 9/22 passes and tallied 117 passing yards for Nodaway Valley/O-M. Avery Phillippi was his main target with with five grabs for 87 yards. The Wolverines fall to 0-5 heading into a matchup with #1 ranked Van Meter.
