(Atlantic) At Wednesday’s Atlantic City Council Meeting, City Administrator John Lund informed the Council that the Retail Coach contract is about to expire. Lund wanted a consensus from the Council on whether he should budget for the next fiscal year for the reduced amount of $20,000. Lund admitted there are some things in the works of some value.
Atlantic City Councilman Gerald Brink voiced a strong yes to renewing the contract for another year.
On August 18, 2021, the city hired the company for the annual cost of $30,000.00 to identify retail opportunities within the City of Atlantic, recruit retailers, coach the community, help fill gaps, and ultimately act as an extension to the current staff, particularly how it relates to retail.
Lund says the city is paying for the expensive cellular data sent to site select shoppers, a Rolodex of corporate prospects they already have relationships with, that the city can’t replicate because it is too specific.
For a formal vote, Lund will put the contract renewal on a future City Council agenda so Mayor Garrett can sign the contract.
