(Red Oak) Montgomery County Engineer Karen Albert asks nearby residents to quit moving the barricades away from the 180th Street Bridge. She says the bridge west of Q Avenue closed in August to inspect the structure.
Albert says the bridge had a deficiency in its structure due to the inspection and was therefore closed to traffic. However, she says residents continue to use the bridge.
Albert says the county is looking at other types of barricades. The bridge is under the county’s five-year construction plan to let this bridge project. Because the bridge is converting to federal funding, the county is looking at a few additional requirements. She says the goal is to let the project yet this year or at the beginning of next year. Until then, Albert asks people not to remove the barricades.
