(Red Oak) Montgomery County Sheriff Jeff Spunaugle citing the need to keep the front Office open consistently during regular business hours, requested the Board of supervisors amend the budget to allow him to hire an additional front office employee.
Sheriff Spunaugle appeared in front of the Supervisors on Tuesday morning. He says an employee needs to be there when someone walks into the Front Office.
Sponaugle has enough work and will create enough work for an additional front office employee. He says the cost to the county would be around $70,000, including salary, IPERs, FICA, and insurance.
Additionally, Sheriff Spunaugle says they are going after the inmate room and board owed to the County and bringing in more money than in previous years.
Sheriff Spunaugle says it will take 30-60 days to hire someone. The Sheriff’s Department will budget the cost of the new hire for the next fiscal year. The Supervisor’s approved the request for the new hire. They will need to amend the budget to account for the additional cost.
