(Greenfield) A Former Adair County man is found guilty of Homicide by Vehicle and Child Endangerment in Adair County District Court. The verdict handed down by a jury on September 1 convicted Elijah Daniel Davis in the fatal crash in May 2020, west of Orient, that claimed the life of Jeremy Trichel, of Menlo, who was 39 years old at the time of the crash.
The court set a sentencing hearing for Davis on October 20, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at the Adair County Courthouse in Greenfield.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at around 5:06 p.m., on May 8, 2020, on Highway 25, just west of Orient.
An eastbound 2000 Ford Astro van driven by Davis crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and struck a westbound 1946 Ford pickup driven by Jeremy Trichel of Menlo. Trichel was ejected from his vehicle and died from his injuries. Davis was also injured in the crash.
