(Davenport, IA) — A judge has ordered two Davenport men to remove about two-thousand tires from a property in a residential neighborhood.
Timothy James Peters and David Omar Mercado must clear out all of those tires within 60 days. The Iowa Attorney General’s Office says Peters and Mercado had applied for a state permit to collect waste tires from Quad Cities businesses but that permit was denied. K-W-Q-C/T-V reports each man has been fined 10-thousand dollars by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and ordered to quit dumping tires at the property.
The judge has now added a 70-thousand dollar civil penalty.
