(Atlantic) Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett gave the Oath of Office to new Atlantic Police Officer Phillip Hood.
Officer Hood joined the Atlantic Police force this month and will attend the 305th class at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, where he will graduate in December of this year.
Hood is a graduate of Winterset High School and holds a bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Buena Vista University. He worked in sales before moving to Atlantic and worked at Atlantic Carriers for the last several years.
Previously, Officer Hood served on the Atlantic Police Reserves since moving to Atlantic with his wife Melinda ten years ago. The couple has two children, Hayden and Dallys.
