(Griswold) The Griswold School District continues to search for a Middle School Language Arts Teacher and another preschool instructor. According to Schools Superintendent Dave Henrichs, fifty-eight students are enrolled in preschool, with six children on a waiting list.
Henrichs says the district is currently without a Middle School Language Arts Teacher, but is making arrangements to deal with this issue while continuing their search.
The School Board also approved the Resolution of Intent for the Instructional Support Program Levy. Henrichs says most school districts have this levy in place that provides additional funding for educational programs such as supplies and materials. He says the board can authorize this levy which expires in 2024.
Henrichs says the next step is to hold a public hearing at the September board meeting. If approved, there is a 28-day waiting period for the public to have a chance to petition the resolution. If there is no petition, the board will renew the levy, and submit it to the Department of Management.
The current levy is $1.33 per one-thousand dollars of valuation. School districts can divide that into income surtax and property tax, which could change yearly.
