(Atlantic) A Cass County bridge is moving up on the replacement schedule.
Cass County Engineer Trent Wolken approached the Board of Supervisors about advancing Bridge 319 on Highland Road over Indian Creek to FY23. “We went through a vacation process for the interstate underpass on 570th Street and in exchange we received $1.5 million in bridge funds. We targeted this bridge for those bridge funds. Receiving those funds will allow us to advance the project.”
The Supervisors approved moving the project up from FY24. The estimated cost of replacement is $2.1 million. They are eyeing a January bid letting process. “It’s always a supply issue thing. Currently there are some issues with beams. We will probably put a lengthy construction period so we can not get in a bind.”
Elsewhere, Motor Grader Operator Garrett Schawnke was hired three months ago and will be moving off of his probationary wage.
