(Atlantic) Grant Petty, 13, and a member of the Washington GEM 4H Club, “had himself a day” at the Cass County Fair 4H and FFA Swine Show on Sunday.
Petty earned top honors with the Grand Champion Market, Gilt, Grand Champion Market Barrow, won the Intermediate Showmanship class and topped it off with the overall Supreme Grand Champion Market Hog, and the Grand Champion Breeding Gilt.
Colton Anderson of Washington GEM showed the runner-up Supreme market hog in the finals. Petty and Anderson finished first and second in the Breeding Gilt Class.
Quincy Robinson of Washington GEM earned Grand Champion Honors with his Pen-of-three in the 4H Show. Carter Witzman’s pen finished runner-up.
Robinson earned the award of top junior showman; Petty won the Intermediate division, Brookelynn Steffen earned the honor of top senior showman, and Steffen won the Overall Champion Showmanship trophy.
In the FFA Division, Riley Hartman of the Griswold FFA earned top honors for his pen of three, and Logan Eilts of the Atlantic FFA finished as the runner-up.
Logan Eilts showed the top market Gilt, Brookelynn Steffen reserve, Steffen exhibited the FFA Shows top market Barrow, and Kailey Swain of the Griswold FFA finished second. Steffen’s barrow won the crown for the overall Grand Champion market hog.
Dawsen Sorensen, the lone participant, took home the first-place trophy with his FFA Breeding Gilt.
