(Griswold) This past week, Griswold Schools Superintendent Dave Henrichs provided the School Board with an update on the School Safety Improvement Fund. In June, Governor Kim Reynolds announced schools would be eligible for up to $50,000 to enhance some safety items.
Henrichs says the district requested a vulnerability study through the Iowa Department of Education. The Department of Education and Homeland Security will coordinate and study the surveys. From those results, school districts will need to apply for grants.
Henrichs is concerned about this being outside the control of the district, which could take a long time.
