(Audubon) The Audubon School Board this week discussed a plan for the removal of ash trees.
Superintendent Eric Trager says the district has over 50 ash trees that need to go. “We have 58 ash trees on our middle school/high school property and sports complexes that are dead or dying. Unfortunately they all have to come down. The board approved a two year plan to get those removed.”
Once the trees are down they’ll consider options for replacing them. “Our plan is once we see what we have once they are gone then we’ll start working with a local landscaper to start replacing some of those trees. People are going to see a lot of trees start to come down on our property. We don’t feel good about it, but it needs to happen, there is no saving them at this point.”
In other news, the district is in good shape when it comes to personnel for the upcoming year. “We are in a good place right now. We hired an associate and then we hired a full-time substitute teacher who is working on a teaching degree. Our hope is that she will eventually become our full-time vocal music teacher. We are excited to get her on board and get her working towards that teaching license.”
