(Oakland) IKM-Manning scored 13 runs on 13 hits and 13 walks in a baseball win over Riverside Tuesday. The Wolves improve to 2-4 on the season with the 13-2 victory.
Reed Hinners pitched the complete game victory. The junior right hander allowed two runs on two walks and seven hits. He tallied six strikeouts. Hinners, who was making his first varsity start, retired the final seven batters he faced. “I was really happy with it. Going into it I didn’t really know what to expect. I was kind of nervous, but at the end of the night my confidence came up.”
Riverside’s lone runs came in the 4th inning when Nate Messerschmidt and Kaden Pleas started the frame with back-to-back singles. Kyler Rieken bunted them over. Garrett Hough followed with a groundball to short. The throw to first got away allowing the Bulldogs to close within 3-2 at the time. Dalton Smith and Rhett Bentley each had two hits in the game.
IKM-Manning had contributions up and down the lineup. Hinners, their #9 hitter in the order, led the way with a 4/5 showing and three RBI. Brody Blom and Ben Ramsey each had two hits. In addition to scoring 13 runs, the Wolves stranded 14 runners on base. Lane Sams and Cooper Perdew each posted two RBI.
Rhett Bentley took the loss on the mound. He went 2 1/3 innings with five walks, three hits, two earned runs, and four strikeouts. Aiden Bell threw three innings with four runs, three hits, six walks, and two strikeouts. Nathan Messerschmidt tossed the final 1 2/3 surrendering six runs on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
Riverside falls to 1-6 on the season. They’ll host Treynor on Friday and play CAM in Massena on Saturday.
