(Red Oak) High winds caused a pickup-trailer accident on Saturday afternoon in Montgomery County.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened around 12:59 p.m. on Highway 48 west of Elliott.
The Sheriff’s Office says a westbound 2019 Ford F150 pickup pulling a 2020 enclosed Formula Trailer driven by Kelly Hastings of Glenwood. The excessive south wind (60 miles per hour wind gusts) caused the trailer to sway. The hitch came apart, and the trailer ended up in the ditch on its top. The empty trailer was fastened to the pickup by safety chains. The pickup ended up on the north shoulder facing south.
Authorities didn’t issue any citations, and no one suffered injuries in the accident.
The trailer sustained an estimated $8,000 in damages. The pickup received an estimated $700.00 damage.
