(Red Oak) A Southwest Iowa football combine will be held on Saturday, April 30th.
Red Oak will be the site. Tiger football coach Michael Nordeen says, “We are going to do it rain or shine. We have the football field to use and we also have our indoor facility we can use as well. It’s just an opportunity for kids in the are to come down to Red Oak and compete in an NFL style combine. We’ll test them in the 40, broad jump, vertical, pro agility, and then some bench press. It’s a chance for them to compete and show what they’ve got.”
Nordeen wanted to bring something he’d seen elsewhere in the state to this area. “When I was younger in high school in Central Iowa we had Triton Testing which they did at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. Me and my buddies went every year and had some fun with it. When I got my first head coaching job in Red Oak that’s something I wanted to implement. Seeing the different towns in Southwest Iowa and all the teams we played there’s so much talent down here. We need to get these kids some publicity and get them in front of college coaches to hopefully give them a shot at the next level.
The event starts at 10:00 a.m. on the 30th. The cost is $30. To register go to mcymca.com/register. ”
