
(Atlantic) It’s been a remarkable season for the Atlantic High School and Middle School Archery Teams, and the Atlantic City Council recognized the two squads on Wednesday night.
Last month, the Atlantic High School Archery Team claimed the state title in the Bullseye competition at the NASP State Archery Tournament in Des Moines.
Cooper Jipsen and Connor Johnson were named to the Bullseye All-State Team, and Jipsen earned a spot on the 3D All-State Squad. Atlantic Head Coach Clint Roland was named Archery Coach of the Year.
Atlantic shot 3,381 to win the title. Connor Johnson led the team with a runner-up finish (292). Cooper Jipsen finished eighth with a 290. In the High School, girl’s division Mariah Hadley led the team with a 5th place finish. Hadley shot 290.
In the 3D Tournament, Atlantic finished fourth overall. Jipsen led the way with a 5th place finish with 287, and Lee Houser finished seventh.
The Atlantic High School and Middle School teams placed first or second in every tournament leading into the state meet.
Atlantic City Administrator John Lund stated in the Council Packet: “These teams have brought Atlantic State and Regional recognition for their dedication and excellence in the field of Archery. The Mayor would like to make sure they are recognized for these achievements and wish them the best as they prepare for Western Nationals on April 28-30, in Sandy Utah.
