(Atlantic) Members of the Atlantic Archery Club will compete later this month at the National Tournament in Salt Lake City, UT. The Trojans qualified by claiming the state championship in Des Moines in early March.
Cooper Jipsen and Connor Johnson were named to the Bullseye All-State Team, and Jipsen earned a spot on the 3D All-State Squad. Atlantic Head Coach Clint Roland was named Archery Coach of the Year. Atlantic shot 3,381 to win the title. Connor Johnson led the team with a runner-up finish (292). Johnson says, “I didn’t really expect it at first. Once I realized where I finished it was really nice. I was really happy and proud of myself for how I shot and how the team shot.”
Cooper Jipsen finished eighth with a 290. In the High School girl’s division Mariah Hadley led the team with a 5th place finish. Hadley shot 290. “That was my best performance I’ve ever had and I was very happy for myself and obviously for the team placing first in the entire state of Iowa.”
In the 3D Tournament, Atlantic finished fourth overall. Jipsen led the way with a 5th place finish with 287.
The team will hold a fundraiser on Saturday, April 2nd at 9:00 a.m. The cost is ten dollars to attend. They will have an archery competition and a bake sale. They will have a middle school division, high school division, 4 person team division, alumni division, adult division, and you can enter as many divisions as you like as many times as you like. They’ll have four scoring rounds at 15 meters with 20 scoring arrows per entry. A $5 practice round and $2 mulligans can be purchased. Awards will start at 5:00 p.m. at the Atlantic High School.
