Lottery Seeing Impact Of Higher Gas Sales

(Clive, IA) — Iowa Lottery sales so far this fiscal year are nearly even through February when compared to the record set last year. But Iowa Lottery spokesperson, Mary Neubauer, says higher gas prices and inflation is leaving less money for entertainment options such as the Lottery. She says they are starting to see some of the impact of that — with sales of instant scratch tickets feeling the most impact. Scratch tickets are a perennial sales leader — but sales are down two percent. Neubauer says overall there’s no big concern in the numbers right now as they are still on pace to have the second-biggest sales year overall. But she says they will not match the record set in the last fiscal year.
