(Atlantic) The annual Cass Health Foundation Gala is set for Saturday, March 26th.
Dave Chase, Cass Health Foundation Treasurer, said the event serves as a fundraiser for the Foundation to carry out its mission of providing support to the General Budget of the hospital for the acquisition of equipment, facilities, and scholarships that are outside of the regular hospital budget.
“I think everybody is aware that rural hospitals are struggling right now and that we are tremendously fortunate here in Cass county to have a financially stable hospital situation with a great staff and we want to see that quality, and the quality of care that’s delivered there, continue,” stated Chase.
He said they are currently fundraising for a specialized telemedicine cart to immediately help patients suspected of suffering from a stroke in the Cass Health Emergency Department.
“So, if you come into the emergency room at Cass Health, the technicians there have immediate contract with specialists in Omaha or Des Moines that can give immediate care advice to the technicians here, which is revolutionary,” said Chase. “I have a close friend who had a stroke a number of years ago and he was not able to get immediate care for the situation and he has since suffered with the consequences of that. Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States and the leading cause of disability and the stroke victims have to live with those disabilities for a lifetime.”
The goal is to raise $77,000 for this equipment.
Chase said they will have a western theme at the Gala this year.
“Get out your cowboy boots and cowboy hats, your petticoats and whatever and come fully dressed for that. Our meal is also going to follow that same theme; Dusty’s Place is hoping to prepare a brisket and/or whiskey glazed chicken breast and tumbleweed potatoes,” explained Chase.
There will be a dessert auction with the highest bidder getting the first choice. They will also have a DJ and a ‘Nailed It’ cake decorating contest.
“What that involves is that there will be a professionally decorated cake and then there will be teams that are put together to try to recreate that design and the one that most closely comes to the original will get a trophy and bragging rights; that ought to be fun to watch too,” said Chase.
Chase said table sponsorships are available.
“The top level which is called the John Wayne level, that goes to the back to the western theme, is $2,500 and that gets you two tables with eight guests at each table, 16 tickets to the cocktail hour and some promotional advantages. On down the line and various dollar levels are the Jesse James level, Annie Oakley level, the Buffalo Bill level, and if you want to come by yourself you can buy a ticket and we’ll find a place for you and that’s $75 and that entitles you to enjoy the entire evening,” explained Chase.
The Cass Health Foundation Gala will be held at the Atlantic Golf & Country Club on March 26th. The event starts with a cocktail hour at 5:00 p.m. with dinner and entertainment to follow.
