(Atlantic) Atlantic Parks and Recreation Director Bryant Rasmussen spoke about some possible future projects at their Board meeting Monday evening.
Rasmussen said they have been working with SHIFT ATL who would like to see some sand volleyball courts put in one of the parks.
Rasmussen said because they have stayed relatively light over the last couple of years on their capital improvements, they do have room to fit it in.
Rasmussen said he also met with Mark Andersen with the soccer association regarding expansion at the Little League complex to add some more soccer fields. Rasmussen said they would also have room in their budget for this project.
This project is something they would look at doing in the upcoming fiscal year.
Rasmussen said they are also looking at a FEMA safe room. He said FEMA has grants available that would fund up to 75-percent of the cost.
Rasmussen said he was looking at a shelter that is 20×20 and can accommodate 100 people safely and the cost was around $50,000.
