(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board held a public hearing on the 2025-2026 School Calendar Wednesday evening.
Superintendent Dr. Beth Johnsen announced that the first day of school will be Monday, August 25. The goal is to conclude the school year before Memorial Day weekend, on Friday, May 22. She explained that the district needs to include 177 student days and 190 teacher workdays to meet the requirement of 1,080 hours of student instruction. There will be a winter break from December 23 through January 2, and spring break will be split into separate periods.
Board member Jodi Stowater-Goodrich stated that she does not like the shortened spring break schedule, as it would interfere with many families’ plans during that time of year. Dr. Johnsen commented…
There were no comments from the public on the School Calendar. No action was taken at Wednesday’s meeting.
