(Atlantic) Cass County Public Health Nurse Linda Edelman says COVID-19 cases have increased over the past couple of weeks in Cass County and other counties across the state. Edelman says people are traveling more and contracting the Delta variant of the virus.
Edelman says the four variants, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta, spread quickly.
Edelman says seven new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Cass County, along with at least one hospitalized individual.
Edelman also notices a small increase in vaccinations and a larger increase in people getting tested for the virus. The Iowa test sites are no longer available; however, people can pick up the home test kits between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Cass County Public Health. The tests are free and can be picked up between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Cass County Public Health Department is hosting walk-in clinics on Wednesday, July 28, and Wednesday, August 4, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the public health office at 1408 East 10th Street in the small brick building across from the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Iowa Department of Public Health’s next weekly COVID-19 positive case update is this Wednesday, at around noon. The case information will be on our website, westerniowatoday.com.
