(Glenwood) Treynor scored 149-points and won the team title at the Ram Relays at Glenwood on Monday night.
Treynor won the 800 Sprint Medley Relay (1:35.56), with (Evan Smith, Jaxon Schumacher, Sid Schaaf, and Todd Petersen), Schaaf earned gold in the 400-Hurdles, (55.86), and Cole Dooley followed with the top finish in the 3200 Meters in a time of 10:26.20. Noah James of Treynor, the state’s overall leader in the High Jump, cleared 6-07.00 for the gold. The University of Iowa recruit has jumped 6-09.00 this season. The senior also won the 110-Meter High Hurdles in a time of 15.79. The Cardinals wrapped up the meet with the win in the 4×400 Meter Relay in a time of 3:29.44. Todd Petersen, Noah James, Devin Vorthmann, and Sid Schaaf carried the baton.
Lewis Central finished second in the team race with 129 points. The Titans finished strong in the field events. Hunter Deyo won the Shot Put with a throw of 52-11.25 and finished third in the discus. Ryan Rohe and Jonathan Humpal went one-two in the Long Jump. Rohe jumped 21-06.25; Humpal popped a 21-03.50 effort. The Titans 4×800 Meter Relay quad of Ethan Fishell, Quentin Allen, Tyler Ruiz, and Nathan Sell led from start to finish in a winning time of 8:32.74. Sell won the 800-Meters, (2:04:48), and the 4×200 Meter Relay quad of Lucci Fidone, Jonathan Humpal, Brayden Loftin, and Tyler Hinsley won it in a time of 1:31.73.
Glenwood finished third with 126-points. Silas Bales won the 200 Meters (23.12) and finished second in the 100 (11.56). The 4×800 Meter Relay with Nathan Rohrberg, Jake Shannon, Gavin Connell, and Ethan Chappell finished runner-up in 8:51.55, and the Rams were second in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay (Zander Hayes, Anthony Driscoll, Grant Van Essen, and Tyler Boldra,(1:04.15).
Atlantic finished fourth with 84 points. The Trojans posted a handful of season-best performances and one school record. Atlantic senior Craig Alan Becker set a new school record in the 1600 Meters in a time of 4:27.40, breaking Luke Karamitros record of 4:30.86 set in 2011. Beckers performance is fourth-best in Class 3A. The UNI commit anchored the Distance Medley Relay to victory with a season-best time of 3:38.13. Gannon O’Hara, Zane Vance, Colin Mullenix, and Becker carried the baton. The Atlantic Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Garrett Reynolds, Joe Weaver, Zane Vance, and Colin Mullenix topped the field with a season’s best time 1:03.49 (sixth in Class 3A). Mullenix finished second in the 400-Meter Hurdles in his season-best time of 56.75 and third in the 110- Meter Hurdles (16.15). (Video interviews will be posted later on tonight)
Michael Daux of Sioux City West won the 100 Meters (11:36). Silas Bales of Glenwood won the 200 Meters (23.12), 12th best in 3A, and Kelsey Fox of Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln topped the field in the 400 Meters in 52.75.
Tyler Laughlin of Shenandoah won the Discus with a throw of 145-03.50.
