(Denison) The Atlantic boy’s golf team placed fourth out of 11 teams at the Denison Golf Tournament on Saturday at Majestic Hills Golf Course.
The Trojans shot 356. Drey Newell led the Trojans with an 84 and finished 10th overall. Lane Nelson carded an 88, Braden Smith, 89, Garrett McLaren, 95, Roth Den Beste, 102, and Cruz Weaver finished the 18 hole tourney with a 103.
“Drey Newell came through with a good score today, ” said Atlantic Head Coach Ed Den Beste. “It was good to see him play well under the windy conditions. Braden and Garrett had some struggles today. Lane had a rough start, played better midway through his round, and struggled at the end. I thought Roth and Cruz played well considering it was their first time playing on this course. We will make some adjustments for the upcoming week.”
Spencer won the tournament with 335, Carroll, 2nd, 338, Treynor, 3rd, 346, Atlantic, 4th, 356, Lewis Central, 5th, 359, St. Albert, 6th, 367, Glenwood, 7th, 376, Storm Lake, 8th, 389, Denison-Schleswig, 9th, 391, Harlan, 10th, 407, and Red Oak, 11th, 452.
