(Atlantic) The Atlantic boys golf team will begin the season by hosting Kuemper Catholic on Tuesday.
Trojan head coach Ed DenBeste goes over some of the key returners. “Starting off we have two seniors this year. We have Braden Smith and Drey Newell. Both of those guys look to be probably leading our team this year. After that we have Garrett McLaren who is back from his freshman year and is now a junior. Garrett’s hitting the ball pretty well right now and I’m glad to see him doing that. We got a transfer in, Lane Nelson was going to go out last year, but obviously COVID stopped all of us in our tracks. He’ll be out this year and we look for him to possibly be in that lineup.”
Cruz Weaver and Cooper Jipsen are additional players that have a chance to compete for varsity spots along with some freshmen. “Roth DenBeste I think could definitely be in there. We have Colton Becker out this year. We have Tate Niklasen and we also have Chris Keegan. So we have four freshmen and one of those guys will probably try to crack into that varsity spot as well. It’s a good group of guys and guys that are working hard.”
Tuesday’s dual with Kuemper will start at 4:00 p.m. at Atlantic Golf and Country Club.
