(Atlantic) On Wednesday, March 10, the Atlantic School Board will hold a public hearing to replace the west high school parking lot.
Atlantic Schools Superintendent Steve Barber says the project has been advertised, and bids are due before Wednesday’s meeting.
“The parking lot at the high school is a high-cost item and in rough shape,” said Atlantic Schools Superintendent Steve Barber. “We’re trying to figure out what we can afford to do that, and we think now is the right time to replace of third of it, and that is the west parking lot.”
The proposed plan is to replace the existing parking lot with seven-inch concrete and include 17-to-20 additional parking stalls without adding extra concrete. The project also includes the widening of the front entryway into the high school. The plan involves adding about three-and-half feet at the narrowest spot and tapers back to the existing concrete by the sidewalk on the south side. The purpose of this is to alleviate buses having to hop the curve.
