(Griswold) The Griswold School Board on Monday approved four staff changes, a free lunch program, and substitute teacher pay.
Regarding substitute teachers, the current stipend at Griswold is $105.00 per day. Superintendent Dave Henrichs surveyed various districts and came up with similar figures. “The schools I surveyed had a range of $100.00 to $115.00, with an average of $108.75,” said Henrichs. “So, the board elected to keep the substitute pay at $105.00.”
In other activity, the board accepted the resignation of Rhea Gipple, food service employee, and hired Lona Weston to fill that position. Additionally, the board approved contracts for Jessy Klein, Special Education Para, and Matt Spunaugle, Middle School Boys’ Basketball Coach. The School Board also welcomed in new student representative, McKenna Askeland.
Henrichs says the district is taking part in the USDA’s extension of the summer food program. Schools are taking advantage of this extended program allowing all students free lunch and breakfast through December 31, or until the funds run out. Additionally, Henrichs discussed the bus barn painting project, and the board granted him the authority to replace the sound system at both the baseball and softball fields.
