(Red Oak) The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation is beginning the process of hiring a new Economic Development Director. Shawnna Silvius submitted her resignation a couple of weeks ago.
Red Oak City Administrator and Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation Board Member Brad Wright discussed the situation with the City Council on Monday and informed them that the group has placed an ad for the position. “We are looking into using a search firm to assist with the hiring process, but that decision has not been made just yet,” said Wright.
Wright says this is a specialized field and that’s why he is in favor of using a search firm to find that highly motivated individual who can reach out and talk to people, and make the needed contacts in the economic field. “We have a proposal from one firm that could reach out to individuals in this field,” said Wright. “I’m concerned placing an ad in the local vicinity may not reach the type of individual were looking for to fill this position. But we’re still evaluating the best way to fill this slot.”
Shawnna Silvius took over as the Montgomery County Economic Development Director in August, of 2017. Her last day on the job will be Friday, September 25.
