(Harlan) The Harlan School Board discussed activities and social distancing at Monday’s School Board meeting.
Harlan Community Schools Superintendent Lynn Johnson says the school board received some recommendations from the County Board of Health following the first home football game, and what they see needs to be improved from their own perspective.
Johnson says some of the recommendations are easy to obtain, and other recommendations are more difficult. “Even though we’ve implemented some limited opportunities for attendance, the stands were still fairly full,” said Johnson. “The school board is committed to following the recommendations of our public health, and that’s our guide from the beginning of this situation.”
Johnson says the discussion led to some changes in the crowd size for Friday night’s homecoming game. For example, each participant is allotted four tickets instead of five. School Officials will also do their best to discourage the most vulnerable to the virus from attending the school district’s mass gathering events.
