(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council on Wednesday passed a resolution requesting reimbursement from the Iowa COVID-19 Government Relief Fund.
This past March, President Trump signed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act committing $2.2 trillion to mitigate the economic damage caused by COVID-19. Of this Iowa received $3.08 billion in funding, with $1.25 billion reserved for the State’s discretion.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds allocated $125 million for local governments for direct expenses incurred during the pandemic emergency. Of this, $100 million is reserved for cities and counties, of that, Atlantic was reserved $155,100.00 in reimbursement for eligible expenses.
Atlantic City Administrator John Lund says this is a saving grace for their budgeting process for this coming fiscal year. He says numbers continue to develop, but without this funding, the prognosis would have been grim.
