(Floyd County) Two people were hurt in a fiery crash in Floyd County on Saturday.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at around 6:50 p.m. on Highway 18 westbound between Echo Avenue and Foothill Avenue. Authorities identified the injured persons as 42-year-old Bruce Ohern Jr., of Mason City, and 45-year-old Timothy Dodd of Bowling Green, Missouri.
According to the report, Ohern was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup eastbound on Highway 18 when he lost control. The pickup crossed the median and crashed head-on with a westbound 2017 Ford F-350 driven by Dodd.
The Ford entered the north ditch where its trailer overturned, and the truck caught fire. The Dodge Ram pickup came to rest in the westbound lanes.
Fire Department personnel extricated Ohern from his vehicle. AMR Charles City transported Ohern to Mercy One North Iowa. Nora Springs Ambulance transported Dodd to Mercy One North Hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
