(Guthrie Center, IA) — Guthrie County is looking into buying new trucks for the engineering department.
County Engineer Josh Sebern presented his report to the Board of Supervisors at Tuesday’s meeting and said the plan is to replace 6 trucks with 5 — four of them plow trucks and one that is a gravel hauler and dump
Sebern says the trucks will cost $1.5 million and $600,000 for insurance and he is hoping to offset some of the costs
Sebern says time is of the essence to order the trucks — Western Star Freightliner is taking orders on their current models through the end of August. The Supervisors tabled the approval of the purchase for next week.
The Supervisors also approved the funding agreement projects on two bridge replacements and White Pole Road rehabilitation which all are through federal grants. The bridges are over Mason Creek south of the fairgrounds and over Mason Creek on Justice Road north of Highway 44. The total cost is $2.1 million. The White Pole Road project is from Highway 25 east to the county line and is $500,000.
The Supervisors also set a public hearing for a budget amendment for August 25 at 9:00 am.
