Libertarian Candidate for Governor Files Petition
(Des Moines, IA) — The Libertarian Party’s gubernatorial ticket wants a judge to reverse a decision to remove it from the November ballot. The petition says on June 2nd, a Secretary of State’s Office employee told Libertarian lieutenant governor candidate Jules Cutler her affidavit of candidacy wasn’t needed and didn’t accept it. On the 15th, the State Objection Panel voted to remove the Libertarian ticket from the general election ballot because the affidavit was missing. The petition asks a judge to review the decision before the November election.
Woman Pronounced Dead at Des Moines International Airport
(Des Moines, IA) — A woman was pronounced dead at the Des Moines International Airport Wednesday morning. Emergency responders and police responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures. However, the woman died before being transported to the hospital. Police do not believe criminal actions contributed to her death. An autopsy will be performed. Airport operations were not disrupted and there was no impact to the traveling public.
Disaster Proclamation Issued For Marshall County Following June 17 Storms

Governor Kim Reynolds issued the proclamation Wednesday, activating the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Advocacy Program. The assistance programs provide financial assistance, help creating disaster recovery plans, and other resources for residents affected by the severe weather. The proclamation is effective now, and expires in 30 days.
Iowa Getting $2.5M From EPA For Pollution Cleanup

Iowa Landfills Running Out of Space According To Report

The 2025 report from the Iowa Society of Solid Waste Operations found several facilities are running low on space. About a third of the state’s landfills have less than 30 years of capacity remaining under current permits. As space runs out, communities may eventually have to ship waste farther distances, potentially increasing costs for residents.
