(Stanton) Superintendent David Gute of the Stanton Community School District announced that construction for the school renovation project is set to begin next week. In November 2025, residents of the school district approved a $5.3 million bond issue. According to Gute, the project’s focus is on enhancing safety and security. The plan includes adding roughly 3,000 square feet to the south side of the elementary entrance, which will ultimately serve as the main entrance for both the junior-senior high school and the elementary school.
The project will also create extra classroom spaces, with one designated for agricultural education. It will feature new LED lighting and carpeting. Additionally, there will be HVAC upgrades, including enhancements in the gymnasium.
Gute mentioned that they are clearing out the office spaces and plan to convert one classroom into a new office area. He noted that crews will start demolition inside next week, and they aim to pour the footing for the new addition by mid-June. The target is to have the new office area finished by Christmas.
Gute mentioned that the heavy-duty HVAC unit is currently on backorder and is expected to arrive in early September. Additionally, finding storefront windows has proven challenging. He stated that the project is anticipated to be completed by the end of February.
