(Area) — The Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union have set the district track and field assignments to qualify for the state meet. Districts will be on Thursday, May 14 and the state meet will be at Drake Stadium Thursday, May 21 through Saturday, May 23.
Atlantic will be going to Glenwood in District 3 along with ADM, Carroll, Creston, Denison Schleswig, Des Moines Christian and Harlan.
Audubon and Fremont Mills will be host schools in Class 1A. Audubon will be hosting District 1 with AC/GC, Ar-We-Va, Boyer Valley, CAM, Coon Rapids Bayard, Exira EHK, Glidden Ralston, IKM Manning, Logan Magnolia, Newell Fonda, Paton Churdan, Storm Lake St. Mary’s and West Bend Mallard. Going to Tabor for District 6 will be AHSTW, East Mills, Essex, Griswold, Hamburg, Heartland Christian, Iowa School for the Deaf, Lenox, Riverside, Sidney, Southwest Valley, St. Albert, Stanton and Woodbine.
In Class 2A, Treynor will be hosting District 8 with Clarinda, Kuemper Catholic, Missouri Valley, MVAOCOU, Nodaway Valley, Panorama, Red Oak, Shenandoah, Tri Center, Underwood, and West Central Valley.
For Classes 3A, and 2A, the top two finishers in each event will make it to the state meet and then 8 at large qualifiers will be taken based on scores that night. In Class 1A, only the district winners automatically qualify with 14 at large qualifiers in each event. In Class 4A, the top two finishers make it automatically and the next 12 best scores receive an at large bid.
Every meet will start with the field events at 4:00 pm and the track events at 4:45 pm.
