(Madison, WI) — Number 9 ranked Iowa pulled away from Wisconsin in the 2nd half and won their final game of the regular season 81-52 in a Big Ten women’s basketball game on Sunday.
Ava Heiden led the way with a double double — 16 points and 14 rebounds. The Hawkeyes won despite Hannah Stuelke on the bench with an upper body injury she sustained in the last game against Illinois — Stuelke is listed as day-to-day and is hopeful to play in the Big Ten tournament.
Iowa led 19-16 after the first quarter and 33-29 at the half. Kylie Feurebach opened the 2nd half with a three pointer and Chazidi Wright followed with another triple — an 11-0 run gave the Hawks a 44-29 lead and they never looked back.
Besides Heiden, Iowa (24-5, 15-3) had a total of 5 players in double figures — Wright had 14, Taylor Stremlow 12, Layla Hays and Teagan Mallegni each added 10 points.
Wisconsin (13-16, 5-13) was led by Destiny Howell with 23 points.
With the win, Iowa clinched the number two seed in the Big Ten tournament and has a double bye — they will play on Friday, March 6 at 6:30 pm.
