(Des Moines) The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will host a series of public town hall meetings to share updates on recent hunting and trapping seasons, discuss possible rule changes, and hear feedback from residents. Comments gathered at the meetings will be reviewed alongside other public input before any proposed regulations are presented to the Natural Resource Commission for consideration and additional comment.
Input from past listening sessions has led to several changes, including adjustments to Canada goose hunting areas and season dates, higher goose bag limits, expanded raccoon hunting and trapping on private land, revised antlerless deer quotas in parts of Iowa, and an extended trapping season through the end of February.
In southwest Iowa, meetings are scheduled for March 3 at 6 p.m. in Creston at the Performing Arts Building multi-purpose room, and March 5 at 5:30 p.m. in Council Bluffs at Bass Pro Shops – Council Bluffs.
Any person attending the public meeting that has special requirements, such as those related to mobility or hearing impairments, should contact the Iowa DNR or ADA Coordinator at 515-725-8200, Relay Iowa TTY Service 800-735-7942, or Webmaster@dnr.iowa.gov, and advise of specific needs.
