(Salt Lake City, UT) — After falling at BYU on Saturday, #4 Iowa St. men’s basketball got out of the Beehive State with a split beating Utah 75-59 in a Big 12 basketball game on Tuesday night.
The Utes led 12-10 early but Nate Heise drilled a three pointer from the right wing and that sparked a 12-0 run to lead 22-12. Don McHenry ended the run with a three for Utah but Jamarion Batemon answered with a triple of his own. The Utes were able to cut the lead to 29-27 but the Cyclones answered with an 8-0 run and led 41-31 at the break.
Utah cut the lead to 45-40 early in the 2nd half but ISU went on another 8-0 run and the closest the Utes got the rest of the way was 11.
Joshua Jefferson led Iowa St. (24-4, 11-4) with 21 points on 7-15 shooting and 7-10 from the free throw line. Milan Momcilovic had 14 points with 4-8 on his threes. Jamarion Batemon had 13 and Blake Buchanan added 10 points for the Cyclones.
Utah (10-18, 2-13) was led by Terrance Brown with 18, Don McHenry had 14 and Keanu Dawes added 10 points.
Iowa St. moved into a 4 way tie for 2nd place in the Big 12 — Arizona leads at 12-2 while ISU joins Houston, Kansas and Texas Tech at 11-4.
