(Des Moines) This past week, the Education Committee at the Iowa Legislature passed six bills out of committee. Iowa House District #9 Representative Tom Moore of Griswold voted no on three bills, including HSB 636, which states that School Districts cannot enter into agreements with public libraries or allow mobile libraries to access school district property.
Moore says the legislature passed a law requiring public libraries to ensure that materials are age-appropriate.
Moore says a few libraries are not protecting our children by not providing age-appropriate reading material.
This bill passed out of committee with a 14-9 majority.
