(Exira) The Exira City Council approved an application for the city’s existing housing unit purchase program during its regular meeting Monday night.
Exira City Clerk Megan Andersen says this is the third existing-unit purchase since the program began. Andersen explains the program provides $5,000 in down-payment assistance through a five-year forgivable loan.
The Exira City Council adopted the housing program in 2024. It includes four components: an existing-unit purchase program, a new-construction credit, a housing rehabilitation program, and a dilapidated-building program.
In other business, the council discussed the proposed property tax levy rate for the fiscal year ending in 2027. A budget workshop was scheduled for later this month to further review those figures.
