(Oakland) The organization Local Crow Indivisible is hosting a community conversation on the state of health in Iowa and the growing cancer rates affecting its communities.
According to the press release, this is a town hall meeting on January 31, from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the Oakland Community Center, at 614 Dr. Van Zee Road.
Officials say a panel of experts in farming, water quality, and healthcare will discuss what’s happening—from agricultural runoff to drinking water safety to what medical professionals are seeing firsthand—and, most importantly, how we can work together toward solutions.
Organizational officials say we’ve all seen the headlines about nitrates in Iowa’s water. We know runoff occurs, what are farmers doing? What is actually being found in our water? And what are healthcare providers seeing in their communities?
The group aims to bring community members and experts together for an open, informed conversation that can help spark meaningful change for the betterment of all Iowans.
A limited number of water test kits will be available, along with other helpful resources to take home.
Local Crow Indivisible works to organize community-building activities and civic engagement that promote the well-being of the entire community, emphasizing value-based policies over partisan politics for the greater good.
