(Des Moines) A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for much of northern and central Iowa until noon today.
This advisory affects counties including Carroll, Guthrie, and Madison, which are located on the western edge of the advisory area. The National Weather Service is predicting wind chills as low as -30 degrees Fahrenheit, which can lead to frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
Please exercise caution if you need to go outside. It is important to wear appropriate clothing, including a hat and gloves, and to keep pets indoors as much as possible.
The forecast for temperatures is as follows: a high of 16 degrees in southwest Iowa today, 28 degrees on Tuesday, and 37 degrees on Wednesday. However, we will re-enter a deep freeze later in the week. On Thursday, the high will be 30 degrees with a low of 9 degrees. Friday will see a high of 20 degrees and a low of -2, while Saturday is expected to have a high of 9 degrees and a low of -6.
