*The Wind Advisory is in effect for Monona, Harrison, Pottawattamie Shelby, and Mills Counties, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. today. Northwest winds are expected at 25-to-35 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour. Additionally snow showers during these strong winds may reduce visibility making travel difficult.
*A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for central and eastern Iowa from 1:00 a.m. to noon on Monday for portions of central and southeast Iowa. Wind chills are expected to dip down to as low as 20-to-25 degrees below zero.
*A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for portions of northern and north central Iowa until 9:00 p.m. this evening. Travelers should plan on periods of reduced visibility, and gusty winds. Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will
keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat.
