(Diagonal) The Atlantic Varsity Archery team is off to a good start. The Trojans followed the team title at Central Decatur last weekend with a victory at the Diagonal Holiday Bullseye Shootout earlier this week. The Trojans shot a 3,248, Valley finished second with a 3,220, Nodaway Valley, third, 3,219, East Union, Middle School, fourth, 2,980, Creston, fifth, 2,775, and Murray, sixth, 2,769.
Top Atlantic Shooters:
Hunter Quist led the squad again with another personal best, 288, and a third-place finish overall in the individual standings and posted the top score among the senior competitors. He also ranked third out of the 189 competitors. Shauna Anderson finished ninth overall, second in the girl’s division with a 280. Grant Petty finished 11th overall, and seventh in the high school boy’s division with a score of 280. Gabrielle Engler finished 18th overall, with a 275. She was fourth in the high school girl’s division, second among the sophomore competitors, and eighth place out of the 173 participants. Elynor Brummer finished 10th in the girl’s division with a 269. This ranked fourth best among the senior girl’s participating in the tournament.
Atlantic Middle School:
Atlantic Middle School finished third out of four teams in the Middle School Division with a 2,995. Diagonal won the team title with a 3,046. Alicia Juhl led the Atlantic girls with a sixth place, 269. Lucy Northwick, tenth overall with a 265. Jethro Johnson led the Atlantic Middle School boys with a score of 261, and a seventh-place finish in the Middle School Boy’s Division.
